My story begins in 1972 where I was born and raised in a rural community west of Atlanta. It was a great place to grow up with plenty of room to fill the long summer days with my brother. I was and am blessed with two great parents who loved and took excellent care of us. Another brother was added in 1988. I could not ask for a better family and consider myself extremely fortunate to have close relationships with everyone.
In 1990, I met my wife and graduated from Douglas County High School in Douglasville, GA.
Between 1991 and 1997 we had two kids and I worked in various positions with different companies in the retail, lumber supply, and chicken feed sectors. On the advice of my wife's sister, I took my one week vacation allotment and headed down to sunny West Palm Beach, FL for a week of intensive training. When I got back to GA I had one goal, trade my current two jobs for one in the mortgage business. Six months later that goal became reality.
I started on the ground floor as a mortgage loan officer with no experience, just a yearning for a better life. I was promoted to office manager, sales manager, and eventually Director of Operations. I have worked in all aspects of the mortgage origination business including processing and underwriting. Short stints along the way with a couple of local banks have given me experience in the banking sector as well.
My success along the way afforded me the opportunity to conduct training seminars to many of my peers in the mortgage profession. It was then I realized my love and passion for teaching. Training, encouraging, and teaching remain a passion of mine today.
On a whim I wrote an article for Mortgage Originator Magazine, much to my surprise it was published. Some time later I wrote another. I have since written a book, and I am now learning another language.
I am always looking for new challenges, better opportunities, and ever expanding horizons. Still happily married with four kids now I have learned to be content, but never satisfied.
I enjoy meeting new people and old friends over a cup of coffee and discussing how I can help them achieve their goals. I understand the mortgage business inside and out. I know the value of a good mortgage and the integral part it can play in your overall financial picture.
